I just finished recording as a guest speaker on the podcast Real Talk Real Women which launched today. (I’ll let you know when my episode is released)

What an amazing experience!

Connecting with Gemma Serenity Gorokhoff has led to some real a-ha moments and realizations which I have been able to see for myself and share with my clients.

Here’s the thing….

When you meet someone for the first time, you have no idea what they have been through. You don’t know their history.

You don’t know about their childhood – family dynamics, how happy, sad, or traumatic it was.

You don’t know what happened to them or for them in adolescence or as an adult.

You have no idea about their work history. Whether they loved their job or it was a career they fell into. Whether they were recognized for their gifts and talents or were treated poorly and paid crap.

And this got me thinking about my own life, my many and varied jobs, and why I didn’t have just one career path in one industry.

You see the revelation I had was that perhaps my own lack of career path led me to be in business….

Maybe, just maybe, it was because of a past trauma (and there is one that changed everything for me) that I needed to work through

What I do know is that being in business exposes EVERY SINGLE LIMITING BELIEF I have ever had about myself…..

- I’m not good enough.

- Who’d listen to me?

- Question myself about why it’s taken me soooo long to actually make money

- Getting stuck in perfectionism

- I’m not an expert in anything because I’ve jumped around in my career.

- How can I run a business because I feel guilty about taking away family time.

- I’m not successful because I’m not making $10k per month as everyone else seems to online

Here’s what I realized and recognized……

Many of my clients have a similar journey, unable to see how totally bloody awesome they are or focus on what really makes them happy or how to stand out from other business owners.

Why is that?

Because as a woman and a mother they’ve spent their life avoiding healing from their own trauma and in the process they feel lost and don’t know who they are without their kids or their partner or family.

That was me in my 40s when I was run down and exhausted.

I cried myself to sleep because my body was telling me I needed to look after myself and heal from that childhood trauma.

I know for the most part people see me as strong, confident, and outgoing ….but that’s a mask I’ve worn from the time I was 6 years old and raped by a doctor for the first time.

Why? I hear you ask…

Because I was tall!

Yep, that’s right.

The Frankenstein doctors in the 60s, 70s, and 80s wanted to make tall girls short – because no one would marry them if they were too tall, and short boys tall so they would be men.

The striving to create children and women who fit in… it’s a social norm that is heightened by social media today.

Now at that moment as a 6-year-old…….

I decided that no one was going to help me - so I never asked for help, I had to do everything myself.

I decided no one loved me and that I was unlovable otherwise they would have seen what I was going through and stopped it

I decided I wasn’t enough so set about trying to be the best at school and in sports but this just made me stand out and be bullied for being the best or picked on for getting second or third

I lived my life from that 6-year-old’s perspective and yes it has impacted every aspect of my life and business.

I recognize now through personal development the impact it has made on me and those around me.

For those of you who see a confident outgoing woman, the mask comes and goes, there is fear and doubt that visits me and shows up in life and business.

And I remind myself that I was not responsible for the horrible things that happened to me that now…..

I get to truly connect with MY BELIEF SYSTEM, my values.

I get to choose what I want for my future and how through my business I can empower other mums to recognize how truly awesome they are and support them in their business and life journey.

So I’m curious, what is your story?

Has there been a pivotal moment that to this day shows up in life and business?

And if so, is it time to acknowledge it and connect with your values and beliefs, because trust me when you do, everything changes for the better.-
